LAVATION UNIT

LAVATION is a revolution in the way we care for the body after death.

Technically speaking, it is a process of alkaline hydrolysis: a water-based method in which the natural decomposition of a body is accelerated through water, heat and alkalinity. A gentle, biologically safe and significantly more energy-efficient process.

Compared to conventional cremation, the process requires significantly less energy and causes hardly any emissions, as no combustion takes place. At the same time, the familiar ritual of an urn and burial options remains intact, because what remains after LAVATION is ash.

For the design, this meant giving this new technology a form that creates absolute trust and meets the moment of farewell with the necessary sensitivity.

Because burial is not a procedure, but a ritual, a culture and a responsibility.
